David Moore joined The Historic Oakland Foundation as its Executive Director in May of 2006 after 30 years as a trust officer in the financial services industry. The transition from financial consultant to non-profit development work was easy for David. “I spent years advising clients on estate planning matters, and now I am talking to our citizens about making a difference in their city by investing in a part of its historical legacy.”
Today, David’s roll as Co Executive director is to garner support for Historic Oakland Foundation’s mission to preserve, restore, enhance, and share Historic Oakland Cemetery from donors, foundations, community leaders, public officials and policy makers. His role also focuses on consistent branding and messaging to strengthen the awareness and image of Oakland Cemetery and its critical role in our community in preserving our city’s rich history and culture.
David attended Vanderbilt University and the Woodrow Wilson School of Law in Atlanta.
David is a member of the Georgia Museum and Galleries Association, The Georgia Municipal Cemetery Association, The National Memorial Day Association of Marietta, The Georgia Planned Giving Council, the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Atlanta, the Central Atlanta Progress Marketing Committee, the Atlanta Coffee House Club, The Atlanta Breakfast Club, and Saint Catherine’s Episcopal Church of Marietta, Ga.
David and his wife, Mary, have two adult daughters and live in Marietta.
It has been my honor to be the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta President this past year. Even though the year did not go as I had hoped and planned, it was still exciting to see you all on screen each Tuesday at Noon over the last six months!
I am really looking forward to serving our club this year as your President. It is an honor and I am humbled by all those leaders who have come before me. Thanks in particular to Past President Sandy Welfare who navigated us through a very difficult time and for all those who served during her tenure in this crazy virtual world in which we are living. All of you will make the transition so much easier.
Have you missed your Kiwanis friends at our regular Tuesday meetings? If so, you can join them on our Zoom Virtual Meetings, each Tuesday at 11:45 am - Just bring your own sack lunch!
We have had great speakers during our Kiwanis Club of Atlanta Zoom meetings! If you couldn't participate, we have saved all of them to Dropbox, but the most recent ones are available through the live link of the speaker name listed below! Click more to see the list of the most recent speakers and send an email to KiwanisClubAtlanta@gmail.com to let us know which meetings you would like to have. Remember, you can always check out past speakers by viewing the past bulletins archived on our web site.
Are you having trouble receiving the KCA Bulletins and other email communications? It appears that computer systems/servers who use Symantec are having trouble getting communications from our ClubRunner system delivered to their inboxes. While we work on this issue with ClubRunner, I have an email list serve set up through Outlook to send the bulletins out each week to those who need it. And if you are having trouble receiving your quarterly bills, I can send them to you through QuickBooks. Just email me at KiwanisClubAtlanta@gmail.com and I will add you to the list!
The club is creating a contact list of Kiwanis members directly on our Zoom account to make it easier to share speaker files, distribute any data they have sent, etc. Only members that have a Zoom account can be on this contact list. If you access the Zoom meetings through a direct link, but have not downloaded the Zoom app, then I cannot add you at this time.
