When Jonah McDonald announced that he was going to walk from Maine to his new home in Atlanta, his parents scratched their heads. “But think of the stories I’ll have to tell!” Jonah said. He proceeded to hike all 2,172 miles of the Appalachian Trail and hasn’t stopped moving or telling stories since.

As a professional storyteller, author, and park ranger, Jonah enchants audiences with tales from around the world, as well as stories of adventure, nature, and history. Jonah’s stories and infectious energy delight groups of all ages and sizes. Filled with enthusiasm and humor, Jonah’s stories make you feel like you are on an adventure.

Jonah has been selected to be a repeat performer at the Peach State Storytelling Festival and Tellabration! Atlanta. Jonah is an author and seasoned entertainer whose storytelling has been featured on Atlanta’s NPR affiliate station, WABE 90.1 FM. He now serves as the host of the show, "Living History," on AIB TV. He does all of this while serving as the DeKalb County naturalist at Mason Mill Park and writing guidebooks about Atlanta, including Hiking Atlanta’s Hidden Forests: Intown and Out and Secret Atlanta: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure

Jonah loves exploring his city via bicycle, canoe, or foot, and believes that there is a new story to learn and tell around every bend. When he’s not already on an adventure,Jonah loves finding a new one.
