It has been my honor to be the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta President this past year.  Even though the year did not go as I had hoped and planned, it was still exciting to see you all on screen each Tuesday at Noon over the last six months!
When I started on October 1, 2019, I had plans to increase membership across multiple generations, engage members across KCA, and use technology to share the stories of KCA.   However, the COVID-19 pandemic changed our in-person meeting plans back on March, and we have persevered in gathering via Zoom in fellowship, while hearing from many phenomenal speakers.   Despite our challenges, I am happy to report that:
  • Positive impact our KCA club with ten (10) new members this year.  Welcome to KCA Jim Morgens, Latonda Milner, Dr. Ramon Suarez, Tommy Herrington, Arian Smith, Jennifer Pearson, JaLonda Woodyard, Debi McNeil, JD Humphries, and Jabir Donaldson!
  • Commenced rolling PowerPoint presentations during in-person meetings to provide speaker information and schedule of committee meetings
  • Moved the Kiwanis Foundation grant application process online using GoogleDocs. – all digital records will reduce manual intervention and records will now be digital.
I am proud of what we have been able to do within our community and I know our new President David Moore will continue to carry the torch.   As I shared with you all one year ago today, one of my favorite quotes comes from Frederick Douglas:  “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” Let us live our motto ‘Kids Need Kiwanis’ and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for a wonderful and successful year!
