Women's Football Means Business
April Christler has grown awareness of women’s football and gained mass media exposure as the owner of the Atlanta Phoenix football franchise – one of the Women’s Football Alliance’s most respected brands. Impressive, she has developed her franchise to be one of the strongest of women’s full-contact tackle football in the world since founding the team in 2011. Christler, a former professional player, has distinct project management experience most recently as a project manager for the Turner Broadcasting System Inc., which has positioned her to tackle the franchise’s business operations.
As the team’s owner, general manager and spokeswoman, Christler has had exclusive interviews as a feature on national media outlets, including Lifetime TV, CNN, CBS News’ “Close Ups,” Georgia Public Broadcasting and The AIB Network. An integral part of the team is its nonprofit organization, Phoenix Rising Awareness Foundation. The foundation coordinates workshops, seminars and exhibitions to showcase and encourage strength on the field and in life through total wellness awareness.

Fifth Third Stadium on the campus of Kennesaw State University is where the Atlanta Phoenix plays and calls home. There, players and fans catch and exhibit enthusiasm from the playing field out into the stands. Christler has exhibited a great deal of support to her players and has championed women’s football for decades. She looks to grow the women’s game in 2018.
