Providing Activities for Adults with Cognitive Issues and Relief for Their Caregivers
Harriet Shaffer is a long time community volunteer and currently a passionate advocate
for Alzheimer’s disease research and support for caregivers dealing with adults with
cognitive challenges.  She was instrumental in organizing eight multi-denominational
congregations to create Respite Care Atlanta, a non-profit, tax exempt organization
which provides spiritually integrated activities for adults with cognitive difficulties
and welcomed respite and support for their caregivers.  Harriet is a member of the
Board of Directors of Respite Care Atlanta and also serves on the Executive Advisory
Council of the Emory Brain Health Center.
