Bill McGahan founded Georgia Works! because he believes every life has value, and virtually every person can be given the tools and habits to make their lives better. Many men simply have horrible habits, role models and environments.
Bill has been involved in many community organizations and non-profit boards including: Co-Chair Task Force to Re-Purpose the Atlanta City Detention Center, The State of Georgia Housing Trust Fund for the Homeless Commission; Atlanta Area Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for the Governors Office of Transition, Support and Reentry; From Houses to Homes; Atlanta Academy; The Howard School, The Paces Civic Association; and The National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction. Bill earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University, and an MBA from the University of Virginia, and is a graduate of The Westminster Schools.
He and his wife Lisa have four children. They reside in Atlanta.
If you have a desire to serve on the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta Board of Directors, now is the time to submit your name for consideration! All qualified members who express an interest to serve will be on a list for potential nomination. Members will complete their nomination forms at the meetings on March 10 and 17, and those persons receiving at least 10 nominations will have their name submitted on the ballot for election at our club's annual election on April 7, 2020.
To qualify as a board of director, you must be a member in good standing (current on dues and have made a contribution or pledge to the Kiwanis Foundation of Atlanta) and have served in a prior leadership position with the club as a chair or vice chair of a committee.
If you would like to submit your name, please send your request to Blake Young, chair of nominations and leadership development committee, kiwanisclubatlanta@gmail.com by March 9, 2020.
Our club is looking for folks who are willing to become part of the "Lunch Bunch" team! Team members will help the lunch meetings operate smoothly by working the a/v board and sounds system in the back, ensuring that any a/v the speakers use are properly set up, and working the microphones during the Q&A sessions!
While no technical experience is necessary, volunteers should feel comfortable and confident adjusting sound levels and setting up the computer for power point and video presentations. And the benefit is a dedicated comfy seat at the a/v table during lunch!
Do you want to let the members of our club know more about you and your business? Do you want to network and cultivate more business contacts? If you answered yes, then you need to sign up to do a "Member Spotlight" at one of our club meetings!
Are you having trouble receiving the KCA Bulletins and other email communications? It appears that computer systems/servers who use Symantec are having trouble getting communications from our ClubRunner system delivered to their inboxes. While we work on this issue with ClubRunner, I have an email list serve set up through Outlook to send the bulletins out each week to those who need it. And if you are having trouble receiving your quarterly bills, I can send them to you through QuickBooks. Just email me at KiwanisClubAtlanta@gmail.com and I will add you to the list!
