Introduction to the New Georgia Statewide Business Court
Introduction to the New Georgia Statewide Business Court

Walt Davis is the incoming judge for the newly-created Georgia Statewide Business Court. Appointed by Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp in July, and unanimously confirmed in a Joint Session of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees of the Georgia General Assembly, Walt will formally begin his term on January 1, 2020. The Court will thereafter begin accepting cases on August 1, 2020.

Prior to his appointment, Walt led the Securities and SEC Enforcement practice in the Atlanta office of Jones Day, where his practice focused on complex business litigation, corporate governance matters, and internal and governmental investigations. Prior to joining Jones Day, Walt served as law clerk to The Honorable Beverly B. Martin of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Walt is also active in the Atlanta civic and legal communities, where he previously served as President of the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and Past-Chair of the Securities and Corporate Litigation Subcommittee of the Atlanta Bar Association.  Walt currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Georgia School of Law, teaching Securities Law.

Increased Parking Costs are Now in effect for the Loudermilk Center Garage
Parking Cost Increase:  As you know, the parking increase for both those with parking cards and those that do daily tickets, was to increase Oct 1.
There was a delay in preparing the system and it just went into effect Dec 16.   Be prepared for this when you leave on January 7th.  Parking Cards will cost $39 per quarter and parking tickets will be $4 per luncheon visit.  Keep in mind, that while this seems like a steep increase, we have not had a parking charge increase in the 20 years we have been having our luncheons here at the Loudermilk Center.

KCA Communications and Bulletins - We Want to Talk to You!
Are you having trouble receiving the KCA Bulletins and other email communications?  It appears that computer systems/servers who use Symantec are having trouble getting communications from our ClubRunner system delivered to their inboxes.  While we work on this issue with ClubRunner, I have an email list serve set up through Outlook to send the bulletins out each week to those who need it.  And if you are  having trouble receiving your quarterly bills, I can send them to you through QuickBooks.  Just email me at KiwanisClubAtlanta@gmail.com and I will add you to the list!
We Need YOU to be a part of the "Lunch Bunch"!
Our club is looking for folks who are willing to become part of the "Lunch Bunch" team!  Team members will help the lunch meetings operate smoothly by working the a/v board and sounds system in the back, ensuring that any a/v the speakers use are properly set up, and working the microphones during the Q&A sessions!

While no technical experience is necessary, volunteers should feel comfortable and confident adjusting sound levels and setting up the computer for power point and video presentations.  And the benefit is a dedicated comfy seat at the a/v table during lunch!  wink
