"Swing Low Sweet Chariot: a story of the unique origin, strange disappearance, investigation and discovery of its location(by my wife), and return  of a famous painting by the renowned Southern artist Kelly Fitzpatrick"

A native of Pensacola, Florida, Kathy Rainer graduated from the University of Alabama in 1970, where she was the first female head Cheerleader. In 1971, Kathy went to work as a stewardess for Pan American World Airways and spent the next 16 years traveling the world with Pan Am from bases in Washington D.C., Boston and New York. In 1975, Kathy moved to Atlanta where she married Marbury and raised their two sons.

In the late 1980’s Kathy and her business partner Tricky Wolfes founded their event company Parties to Die For and have designed, decorated and implemented countless major charity balls, weddings and other large events throughout the Southeast. They also speak on flower arranging and event planning around the Country. Kathy is a featured speaker for Garden Clubs of America, and Tricky and she have been the featured speakers at the famous Newport Flower Show, and flower shows and meetings from there to South Florida. Kathy was a founding member and President of the Garden Associates of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, served as the City Wide Chair of TWIGS, the fundraising arm of Eggleston Hospital, and has been President of the Atlanta Chapter of the University of Alabama Alumni Association. She is a member of Peachtree Garden Club and the Advisory Board for the Georgia State Botanical Garden.

After graduating from the University of Alabama m 1970, Marbury Rainer served two years as a Lieutenant in the United States Army, serving as a finance officer in the United States Southern Command, Panama Canal Zone. In 1975, he graduated from Harvard Law School and joined King & Spalding as an associate attorney, where he practiced until early 1981, when he left to become a founding partner of Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs. He retired the end of 2019, and continues his law practice as The Rainer Firm.  
 
Through his 45 year career Marbuy has been a counselor and litigator for countless businesses and individuals. He has extensive experience representing public and private companies and their officers and boards. Representing public and private companies and those who manage and oversee them, Marbury has worked on a wide range of corporate governance matters and securities litigation, including disputes over M&A transactions and agreements, accounting restatements, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, trade secrets, insurance coverage, real estate transactions, and breach of contract. He also regularly represented healthcare clients in antitrust mafters and medical staff disputes. Marbury's extensive litigation experience includes class actions, derivative suits, and federal government investigations.

KCA Holiday Luncheon is December 14!
The annual Kiwanis Club of Atlanta holiday meeting will be Tuesday, December 14th, Noon in the Ballroom of the Loudermilk Center.  We hope you will join us in person at this wonderful time when we celebrate the holidays and distribute more than $275,000 to 50 local organizations!
