Atlanta Youth Academy

Peter Rooney came to Atlanta Youth Academy in 2012 after serving as the vice president for development and alumni relations at Oglethorpe University. He earned his bachelor of arts from Rhodes College and his master’s degree in educational leadership at Kennesaw State University’s Bagwell College. Rooney has spent the majority of his career in development at private, educational institutions. Prior to Oglethorpe, Rooney served as the director of development and director of principal gifts at The Westminster Schools and as the planned giving director and director of development at Rhodes College. He is a graduate of Leadership Georgia and has served on the boards of Camp Glisson, Trinity Community Ministries, and Buckhead Business Association. Formerly, he served on the International Board of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education and the operating board of The Commerce Club. His educational leadership and support are further exhibited by his board service for the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation and the Student Aid Foundation. He and his family are active members of Northside United Methodist Church.
