Dr. Ken Harmon, Provost & VP Academic Affairs

Dr. Ken Harmon is Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kennesaw State University.  Prior to this appointment, he served as dean of KSU’s Coles College of Business.  Harmon also has served on the faculty of seven business schools across the United States and has held administrative appointments at five of those institutions. He was an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers, was president of his own software company, and has served as a consultant to numerous companies and universities. 

 

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Harmon holds bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in accounting from the University of Tennessee.  His areas of expertise include accounting, leadership, and corporate culture. Harmon has been a journal editor, authored numerous publications, and served on 10 editorial boards.

 

Ken’s passion is writing and delivering keynote addresses, domestically and internationally, on the subject of happiness.  He explores the research about what makes us happy and relates that research to everyday life and especially the workplace.

 

Ken is a member of governing or advisory boards for Henssler Financial Group, Horizons Atlanta, Town Center Community Alliance, KSU CARE Center, Cobb Superior Court’s Accountability Court, Cobb DUI Court, Marietta Country Club, and Alliance University in Bangalore, India.  He also is a member of Marietta Kiwanis. He resides in Cobb County with his wife, Mary Harmon, and has three daughters: Ashley, Ava, and Norah.  He enjoys riding motorcycles, playing guitar, writing music, and playing golf and tennis.
