A resident of Atlanta for 40 years, Sidney Kirschner transferred here to join National Service Industries, Inc (NSI) in an Executive capacity. At the time, NSI was a Fortune 500 Corporation with annual revenue of 500 million dollars and he eventually became Chairman and CEO, growing the company to a 3 billion dollar conglomerate resulting from his intricate involvement in more than thirty significant acquisitions, transactions and multimillion dollar expansion projects.  He retired in 1992 to work in the non-profit world. He had served on Northside Hospital's board of directors from 1984 and became President and CEO of Northside Hospital following his retirement from NSI.  He currently serves as the President & CEO of Piedmont Heart Institute, President & CEO of Piedmont’s Physicians’ Organization and Executive Vice President of Piedmont Health System, a 2 Billion dollar multi hospital system in Atlanta, GA.
 
Kirschner was born in Ottawa and raised in New York. He graduated with a BS degree in mining engineering from the New Mexico School of Mines. After graduating, he joined Aerojet-General Corporation as an engineer. He rose through the management ranks in jobs at Aerospace Corporation, Curtiss-Wright Corporation and General Dynamics Corporation from 1960 to 1973. He left General Dynamics as president of the Electric Motor Division to join NSI.
 
At Northside Hospital, Kirschner championed a dedication to service excellence, raised the level of commitment to community service and helped to expand the hospital's service area with a number of new service delivery sites. In addition, he was the driving force behind the development of Northside’s state of the art Women's Center, which opened in May 1999, receiving regional and national recognition; and, has become the nation’s standard for excellence in the treatment of women’s issues.
 
Kirschner has also served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross, VHA of Georgia, Georgia 1st, Principle Healthcare of Georgia, Atlanta Chapter American Cancer Society, Sandy Springs Revitalization, Inc.,  United Way, and Georgia State University School of Policy Studies.  He provides consulting services to a broad range of businesses and customized strategic advice to physician practices, independent physician networks as well as hospital systems.
 
 Kirschner and his wife Carole reside in Sandy Springs.
