Memorial Day Celebration: “Georgia’s Role in the First World War"

Dr. Lamar Veatch has a background in library administration, serving as Acting Director for the Jefferson County Library in Louisville, GA, then moved on the be the Director of the Ohoopee Regional Library in Vidalia, the High Plains Regional Library System in Greeley, CO, the Irving Public Library System in Irving, TX, and the Alabama Public Library Service in Montgomery, AL. He retired as the State Librarian at the GA Public Library Service in Atlanta.  He has also served the GA State Archives in Communications and Outreach in Morrow, GA and the Heritage Associate at the GA World War 1 Centennial Commission in Atlanta.

 

Veatch graduated from Young Harris College and UGA, received his Masters from Emory and his PH.D from Florida State.  Born in Atlanta, he and  his wife Carol have two children and four grandchildren.
