Historic Oakland Cemetery and the Importance of Historic Preservation
Historic Oakland Cemetery and the Importance of Historic Preservation
David Moore joined The Historic Oakland Foundation as its Executive Director in May of 2006 after 30 years as a trust officer in the financial services industry.  The transition from financial consultant to non-profit development work was easy for David. “I spent years advising clients on estate planning matters, and now I am advising clients to use their charitable desires to make a difference in their community by investing in a part of its historical legacy.”  David’s role as Executive Director of the Historic Oakland Foundation is to help fulfill its mission which is to restore, preserve, enhance and share Historic Oakland Cemetery and promote it as a historic landmark and cultural resource.

David is a 5th generation Atlantan whose great grandfather’s mill stood on Peachtree Creek near the intersection of West Wesley and Moores Mill Roads in Northwest Atlanta, so his roots in Atlanta history run deep.

David attended Vanderbilt University and the Woodrow Wilson School of Law in Atlanta.

Prior to joining the Historic Oakland Foundation David was a Fiduciary Consultant in the Private Bank of Bank of America.  David and his wife Mary live in Marietta. They have two children, Laura, 32, a special education associate with the Adaptive Learning Center’s Preschool Inclusion Program, and Catherine, 29, who is completing an internship in counseling in Atlanta.

David is a member of the Georgia Museum and Galleries Association, The Georgia Municipal Cemetery Association, The National Memorial Day Association of Marietta, The Georgia Planned Giving Council, the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Atlanta, the Central Atlanta Progress Marketing Committee, the Coffee House Club, The Atlanta Breakfast Club, and Saint Catherine’s Episcopal Church of Marietta.

Kiwanis Club of Atlanta Car Decals
Don't get the BOOT!  Be sure your car has a Kiwanis Club of Atlanta car decal properly displayed on your vehicle.
The security company contracted by Lanier Parking will be booting all cars that are parked in the reserved parking places and that do not have a valid decal on their car identifying them as attending the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta luncheon.  So if you arrive prior to 11:45 am on Tuesday, please make sure you have a parking decal on your car.  You can get a decal from Karen at the luncheon meeting, and then place it on the right back window (passenger side) from inside your car.  They are static cling, so easy to put on and take off!
