Golden Rule Award - "Leading with Passion, Working with Purpose: Building our Region’s Endowment"
ALICIA PHILIPP is president of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, one of the largest and fastest growing philanthropic service organizations in the country. This year she is celebrating her 40th year with the Foundation. When she joined in 1977 its assets were $7 million, today they are approximately $900 million. The Community Foundation strengthens the 23-county Atlanta region by providing quality services to donors and innovative leadership on community issues. They do this by connecting the passions of philanthropists with the purposes of nonprofits doing that work. To that end, in 2015, the Community Foundation received $113 million in gifts from donors and granted out more than $139 million via 6,800 grants to more than 2,900 nonprofits locally, nationally and abroad.

Philipp has served on the board of the Council on Foundations, the Southeastern Council of Foundations, Independent Sector and the National Center on Family Philanthropy. In 2017 she was named to Georgia Trend magazine’s Business Hall of Fame after being on its “100 Most Influential Georgians” list for many years. She has also been named one of the “100 Most Influential Atlantans” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and the ninth most powerful Atlantan by Atlanta magazine.

Philipp received a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a master’s in business administration from Georgia State University. She lives in Decatur and has two adult children, both of whom live in Europe.

Kiwanis Club of Atlanta Office is on the Move!
The Robert Woodruff Volunteer Center (aka "United Way Building") has been sold and the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta office is looking for a new location!  This is only affecting the office, NOT the luncheon meeting location.  We will continue to have our weekly luncheons every Tuesday, Noon, at the Loudermilk Center Ballroom with parking in the adjacent deck. The United Way is moving into the Loudermilk Center offices (the ARC is moving out soon) and they will continue to own and operate the Loudermilk Center and the parking deck.
So where will the club offices go?  That is what we are currently trying to figure out!  We are researching several options from a small office space similar to what we have now, as well as a shared office location with a storage facility for the office records and archives.  Of course, if you happen to have some office space in downtown, midtown or Buckhead area of Atlanta, and would like to donate it for the office to use, we would love to hear from you!  But also email me if you know of open space in your building which is at a reasonable rate, and is in a good location and convenient for our weekly meetings.  Our target transition is this August, but we must relocate by November.

Kiwanis Club of Atlanta Car Decals
Don't get the BOOT!  Be sure your car has a Kiwanis Club of Atlanta car decal properly displayed on your vehicle.
The security company contracted by Lanier Parking will be booting all cars that are parked in the reserved parking places and that do not have a valid decal on their car identifying them as attending the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta luncheon.  So if you arrive prior to 11:45 am on Tuesday, please make sure you have a parking decal on your car.  You can get a decal from Karen at the luncheon meeting, and then place it on the right back window (passenger side) from inside your car.  They are static cling, so easy to put on and take off!
