Alan Harrison is a nonprofit executive with over 25 years of for-profit and nonprofit experience in a diverse set of roles.  Born in Pennsylvania, Harrison holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Geneva College and an M.S. degree in Biology (specializing in Ecology) from Lehigh University.

He started his career in the for-profit water treatment industry specializing in industrial water disinfection.  In this role he led various groups and traveled to over 25 countries doing technical training and technical sales support.  His last role before switching to the non-profit world was with BioLab, (at the time a wholly owned subsidiary of Great Lakes Chemical Corporation), as Director of Technology for a water treatment business specializing in process and drinking water with an annual revenue of approximately $75M.

In 2003 Harrison left the for-profit world and joined The Nature Conservancy as the Director of Operations for the GA Chapter.  There he oversaw finance, HR, IT, facilities and general business operations.

Alan Harrison joined the CDC Foundation in January 2009 as the Vice President for Administration.  In this role, he was responsible for the implementation and administration of organizational policies and procedures during a period of rapid growth. He oversaw strategic planning for the CDC Foundation and monitored progress toward attainment of long and short-term strategic objectives.  He had overall responsibility for HR, IT, Risk Management, Facilities Management and annual budgeting.  Harrison also assisted the president with board development, staffed select board committees and managed day-to-day operations of the organization in the president’s absence.

In December of 2016 Harrison accepted the position as CEO of ToolBank USA. ToolBank USA is the parent organization of the ToolBank network and is charged with supporting existing ToolBanks and growing new ones. Local ToolBanks lend high quality tools for a small handling fee to local volunteer organizations working to improve their communities. In 2017 ToolBank is on target to equip over 300,000 volunteers and support over 1.2 million volunteer hours nationwide. Currently there are ToolBanks in Atlanta, Charlotte, Baltimore, Richmond, Cincinnati, Houston, Phoenix, Portland, Chicago, and a mobile unit, ToolBank Disaster Services.

Harrison currently resides in Douglasville, GA just outside of Atlanta.  He and his wife Jennifer have been married for 30 years.  He has two children. Anna is a 5th year studying electrical engineering at The Georgia Institute of Technology, and Ethan is a freshman also at Georgia Tech studying Mechanical Engineering.
