Suzanne Detlefs is a retired officer of ChoicePoint Inc. and BellSouth Corporation.  She joined ChoicePoint in 2002 as Vice President and General Manager of ChoicePoint Precision Marketing and was promoted to Chief People Officer in 2005. Her People Services responsibilities included oversight of companywide benefit plans, compensation, talent acquisition, talent development, business unit support and human resources compliance.
 
Prior to joining ChoicePoint, Suzanne was Vice President of the Strategic Planning Unit of BellSouth Corporation. She had been elected a corporate officer in 1998, to be president of BellSouth Advertising and Publishing Corp, a $1.8 billion directory publishing business. During her tenure at BAPCO, she also served as Vice President of Business Development, Vice President of Marketing and Chief Operating Officer.
 
Prior to joining BellSouth in 1989, Suzanne worked for Pacific Bell in San Francisco and PepsiCola GmbH in Frankfort, Germany. She began her career at Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
 
Suzanne has served on non-profit boards across the Atlanta community and is the former Board Chair of the Georgia Region of the American Red Cross. In 2012, she received the American Red Cross national award for Board Leadership and development. Suzanne is a founding Board member of the Tiffany Circle, the national women’s leadership giving organization of the American Red Cross. Currently, Ms. Detlefs serves on the National Philanthropic Board of the American Red Cross and the Board of Trustees of Hollins University.  She holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Hollins University and an MBA from Yale University. She is married to Richard L. Detlefs, MD and has a daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.
